October 3, 2019 Announcements


1) “October is LGBTQ+ History Month! Please take advantage of the events that are happening this month by checking out the list of events happening this month!”

2) “Spectrum, Westbrook High School's LGBTQ+ club, will begin meeting on October 3rd in room 325 during ACE. Please request a tag from Mrs. Joyce or Mr. Taylor to attend!”

Auditions for the fall play, Almost, Maine, will be held after school in the auditorium on Monday the 7th and Tuesday the 8th. See Mr. Solomon in room 314 if you have any questions.

Homecoming tickets will start being sold Wednesday, October 9th during lunches. You need a signed dance forms and guest form (if needed) in order to buy a ticket. Guest forms will no longer be accepted after Thursday, October 17th so take care of it early please. Tickets will be $10.00 a piece. Homecoming is October 19th from 7-10PM.\

Sport team pictures will be on October 10th!

  • Students interested in being the City Council student representative may stop by the Main Office for an application.

  • Students may stop in the Main Office for a parking pass form. The cost is $6.00. ALL students must park in the student parking lot-not the teacher lot!

  • The following colleges will be at WHS this week. Sign up in Naviance or email Mrs. Sturgis:

College of the Atlantic, Thursday, 10/3 @ 8:00 a.m.

St. Joseph's College, Thursday, 10/3 @ 12:00 p.m. (full)

Maine Maritime Academy, Thursday, 10/3 @ 12:30 p.m.

Rice University, Friday, October 4 @ 11:00 a.m.

Freshman: Class council elections will take place on Friday during ACE.

SCHOOL YEAR BRIDGE PROGRAM: If you’re a 9th or 10th-grade students and want to be a part of Mr. Russell’s 21st Century School Year Bridge program, Stop by and see him in room 101.

  • Bath Iron Works, one of Maine's largest employers, will be at the high school during ACE, Thursday, October 17. Learn more about the many career opportunities (nurses, lawyers, doctors, lab techs, security, firefighters/EMTs, design, engineering, business and finance roles). They will be hiring over 1,000 in the next few years. Interested? Please email Mrs. Sturgis to ask for a tag.

Interested in the legislative process? The Maine State Senate is providing students the opportunity to be Honorary Pages through their Honorary Page Program. You get to see firsthand the legislative process and deliver messages and documents to State Senators.   • Looking for an after school job? We have had a few Westbrook companies contact us with great paying after school jobs. If you are interested in learning more, please stop by the Aspirations Center. You must be 16 or older.
