In light of the horrific events that occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand on Friday, the Westbrook Civil Rights Team would like to express our sympathies and condolences to those who are effected and suffering as a result of this attack. Hatred and bigotry have no place in our community, our nation or the world. We also would like to show our support and appreciation for the wonderful, vibrant Muslim community here at Westbrook High School. The Westbrook High School Civil Rights Team would like to encourage all students and staff to take time this month, along with every month, to recognize and respond in some positive ways to Women's History Month. Women's History is American History.

The Westbrook High School Civil Rights Team meets Friday during ACE in Room 317 - All Students are welcome regardless of race, skin color, national origin and ancestry, religion, disabilities, gender (including gender identity and expression), and sexual orientation. Please join us in our efforts to make Westbrook High School a more inclusive and accepting place.

Congratulations to the Unified Basketball team for winning the Southern Maine Regional Championship game VS Morse High School. Final score Westbrook 77 - Morse 68. The Unified Team will move on to the Maine State Championships @ Edward Little HS Tuesday March 19th. The game starts at 6:00pm.

Friday and Saturday was 20 long hours of the state jazz festival - lots of medals earned for different Westbrook groups. All played extremely well and received Silver and Bronze medals!

Highlighting the weekend was individual student awards. For each division they award four outstanding musicianship awards and one Top Musician Award - The Dale Huff Award.

Both Pethuel Mutalenu and Spencer Burnham received the TOP musician - Dale Huff- award in their division! Out of over 200 students! Also receiving outstanding outstanding musicianship honors (an achievement of the year for kids!) was Kevin Nee and Rachel Richards! We finish off the regular jazz season tonight with Jazz Night at the WPAC at 6pm.

Yesterday in Somerset, MA our Winter Guard and Winter Percussion groups performed and received a third place finish in the New England Scholastic Band Assoc. show! A busy weekend for kiddos.

The Sophomores will have a brief Class Ring ordering meeting in the Auditorium during ACE on Tuesday, 3/19.

There will be a brief meeting for all girls and boys interested in spring track & field on Tuesday, 3/19, at 2:45 in the cafe.

There will be an informational meeting in Room 220 at 3:00 on Tuesday, March 19th for any boy interested in playing lacrosse this season.

There will be vision testing for freshman on March 22, at 9am (blue day) and March 29 at 8am (white day). Students please bring/wear your glasses, contact lens or both!

Sophomores--you must get your College Visit permission slips in to one of your team teachers or your ACE advisor ASAP! If you have misplaced your permission slip, please see Ms. Wescott in the Student Services Office for a new one.

The Portland Sea Dogs are hosting their 12th Annual College Fair on Wednesday, May 8 from 3-5pm. Each student attending the fair receives two complimentary tickets to the 6pm baseball game. Names are due by April 12. If you are interested in attending please send an email to Mrs. Sturgis, Aspirations Counselor


The Science Lab is open 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 1st and 3rd Thursdays & Fridays from 2:30-4:00 in Ms. Keefe's room 205 for any science questions.

The Math Center is open Mondays & Thursdays from 2:30-4:00 in rooms 104 & 106. Please stop by if you need help or have any questions about your math homework.

English Tutoring is available Mondays & Thursdays from 2:30-4 in Room 323 with Mrs. Sbardella. Even if you just need a quiet place to study and/or do homework, please stop by...

Building hours for students are 7am to 2:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 7am to 1:30pm on Wednesdays. For safety reasons, no students should be in the building before or after that without a specific plan in place with an adult in the building who can supervise them. Please do not arrive at school before 7am, as it is getting cold out and we don't want you waiting outside. This is the same for after school pick-up. Please communicate these hours to your parents so you don't have to wait outside after school.
