“I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate...the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom;...Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.” ― Martin Luther King Jr., from Letter from the Birmingham Jail

Are you passionate about Music, Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, Film, Writing? All interested students are invited to ROOM 114 during ACE TODAY to JOIN A CONVERSATION to help share ideas, and to brainstorm and DEVELOP A CULTURAL PLAN FOR WESTBROOK. What does Westbrook currently have for cultural opportunities? What dreams or ideas do you have that would make Westbrook even better? What would specifically be culturally engaging for young people in Westbrook? This Cultural Planning Process is a project of Discover Downtown Westbrook with support from the City of Westbrook and the Maine Arts Commission. The Discussion is being led by Strategic Consultants to help guide the process.
