Senior Meeting on Thursday during ACE in the Auditorium.

 

Civil Rights Team meeting Thursday during ACE in 114. Seniors may go after the Senior Meeting.

 

The Talent Show is tonight at 7pm in the auditorium. We have16 great acts this year. Tickets are only  $5.00 for students and $7.00 for adults. 

 

The Music Dept. is presenting our annual All-City Concerts to celebrate all the great music-making that has happened all year long at all levels.  The Chorus concert is Monday May 14 7pm at WPAC, and the Band concert is Tuesday May 15 7pm in the HS Gym.  Both are guaranteed to be VERY entertaining !!! 

 

Join Trailblazers for a weekend camping, enjoying the outdoors and  white water rafting on the Kennebec May 19th-20th.  Please see Mr Davis or Ms Keefe for a permission slip and more information. 

 

Attention Seniors~PROM tickets are on sale. The cost is $40 each and includes dinner, a cash drawing, photography, and entertainment. A dance contract MUST be completed before the purchase of tickets. If bringing a guest from another school, a completed dance contract & photo ID must be submitted BEFORE tickets can be purchased. Please see Ms. Sbardella in Room 323 with any questions.

 

 Science Completion Club will be on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

 

CITY COUNCIL STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES NEEDED:  Are you interested in representing the student voice in local government arenas?  Do you want to better understand and weigh in on the City of Westbrook's operations? The Westbrook City Council is looking for a few good women and men, (well 2 anyway) to represent the Westbrook High School student opinion as a student representative on the Westbrook City Council.  Learn about how policies and decisions are made. Speak up as an emerging community leader and influence the process with information and your opinions. Earn a $500 scholarship.  

Requirements:  Applicants must complete the application and provide a letter of support from a staff member and another letter of support from a peer.  Completed application and qualified candidates will be interviewed for selection. There are two spots available. Students must attend all City Council meetings (1-2 monthly) and provide updates each month to the City Council and City (these meetings are televised)as to the goings on in the schools. 

If interested see Pam Wescott in the main office for the application.  Application materials must be in to the main office by May 18th at 2:30.   

 

SCHOOL COMMITTEE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE NEEDED:  Do you wish you could influence the policy decisions of the Westbrook School Department? An open position for a student representative on the School Committee needs YOU to fill it! Weigh in and provide student voice to the decisions being made about policies that impact your school, your friends, and you! AND you can earn a $500 scholarship for your service! 

Requirements:  Applicants must complete the application and provide a letter of support from a staff member and another letter of support from a peer.  Completed application and qualified candidates will be interviewed for selection. The selected student must attend all School Committee meetings (usually 2 monthly- one sub-committee meeting, one full committee meeting) and provide updates each month to the School Committee and the public (these meetings are televised) as to the goings on at WRVC and the high school.

Juniors starting to explore college options--we will be taking a bus to the Augusta College Fair on Thursday, May 24th. 

All juniors were sent an email with details.

Sign-ups and permission slips are in the guidance office with Ms. Shackley.

The sign-up deadline is May 10th--and there are a limited number of seats on the bus, so don't wait--Sign up!!

 

SENIORS: CHECK YOUR EMAIL! Seniors will be receiving detailed emails about any outstanding library materials that must be returned before marching practice begins.

Language Arts Completion Club (w/ Ms. Sbardella) in Rm. 323 Mondays and Thursdays from 2:40-4:00pm

Science Completion Club (w/ Ms. Keefe) in Rm. 205 Thursdays and Fridays from 2:40-4:00pm

Tutoring (w/ Ms. Phelps) in Rm. 225 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 2:40-4:00pm

For Math Center, Language Arts Completion Club, and Science Completion, just show up ready to be productive.

 Any student needing a Prom Dress, contact your guidance counselor to go to the clothing closet. We have been given a ton of Prom Dresses that need a good home!!!! These dresses are all free. Please reach out to us!

 

All Sophomores are invited to apply to RYLA, a high school leadership week at Camp Hinds taking place June 24-27.  Applications are available from Mr. Dyer.  Students apply and interview.  No cost.

 

For Juniors Only:  The University of Maine (Orono) admissions representative will be at the high school on Monday, May 21 to meet with juniors one-on-one. Using your transcript and SAT scores, you will get a "pre-read" on your application and find out about merit scholarships and ways to improve your application. Are you taking the right classes next year for your major? Come meet with UMaine to learn more. Only 30 spots available. To save your spot email Mrs. Sturgis, Aspirations Coordinator.

 

All PM WRVC are expected to be in ACE every day until 10:50, at which time they will be dismissed from ACE to report directly to WRVC.  Students who are not in ACE or leave early will be marked unexcused absent.

 

WHS' LGBT+ club will be meeting on Thursdays after school in Ms. Joyce's room – 108.

 

Students are required to purchase a parking pass for $6.00 in the Main Office to be eligible to park in the Student Lot at the high school. Students who do not have a parking pass will be ticketed.  Students are not allowed to park in the teacher lot.
